I don't really write about auditions on here, because, let's face it- in the life of an actor you're going on a bunch of auditions and the reality is that a lot of them don't always pan out. However, this one was interesting and I'm feeling compelled to write about it so don't mind me... So it wasn't just your typical 'prepare sides and come in and perform them' (and maybe cold read another set of sides for a different character- which happened here, and while a curveball, not always disastrous) and usually you're in and out of the room within 15 minutes or so. But this audition not only had the typical sides reading, it was also a sit down interview. I was in there for almost an hour just talking with the director and writer about myself and the project. Never in my audition history, whether here in LA or in KC have I had such a thorough audition- and I won't lie to you, I really dug it. Typically I'm able to let an audition go afterwards to prevent getting attached and potentially disappointed if it doesn't pan out, but this one is lingering. I have no idea what they're looking for, but I can say it sounds like a super interesting project and one that I'd love to be a part of. And if it doesn't pan out- here's to hopefully having more auditions like that in the future, because that was incredibly fulfilling and reminded me why I'm in this business in the first place :)
